Portland State Institutional TOEFL Exams

Portland State University offers two types of Institutional TOEFL exams for prospective and current students. Please read the explanations below to determine which TOEFL exam you may be eligible to take. Be aware that you can only take either the PSU Institutional Exam, or the IELP Institutional Exam; but you may not take both.

If you:

  • Have been admitted to Portland State with an ESL restriction, but have not yet taken any courses; or
  • Have applied to Portland State and have not yet provided valid proof of English language proficiency; or
  • Have been admitted to Portland State through the Waseda Exchange Program;

You may be eligible to register for the PSU Institutional TOEFL

If you:

  • Have been admitted to the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) at PSU; or
  • Have been admitted to Portland State University with an ESL restriction
  • AND have taken at least one LING 099 or LING 110 course;

You may be eligible to register for the IELP Institutional TOEFL

The fee for either Institutional TOEFL is $60.00 USD
YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PASSPORT TO REGISTER FOR EITHER EXAM
