Sara Mirk is a local nonfiction writer and regular contributor to the Portland Mercury. Her series of Oregon History Comics have been praised by Oregon Public Radio and the Portland Tribune, and she is completing a book on sexuality. Barfly magazine awarded Mirk its "Best Good Writer” in Portland.
The poet Carl Adamshick won the prestigious Walt Whitman Award of the Academy of American Poets for his first collection Curses and Wishes, which also received an Oregon Book Award.
"The content of the poetry is quiet yet raw, reticent yet voluptuous, and complex-complex as a wine may be said to be complex. Adamshick has found ways to express emotions hard to pin down."
