DJC announces 2012 newsmakers, including Sergio Palleroni and Aaron Whelton

The Daily Journal of Commerce next month will honor its 2012 Newsmakers, a select roster of the most interesting personalities impacting the local and regional built environments.

Honorees for 2012 are: Bob and Katy Barman, owners of the nation’s first green Chevron station; the Rev. William Beauchamp, president of the University of Portland; Gale Castillo, executive director of the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber; Kevin Cavenaugh, developer; Rhonnda Edmiston, diversity and business equity manager for Howard S. Wright Constructors; Jane Jarrett, executive director of the Architecture Foundation of Oregon; Chris Poole-Jones, executive director of the June Key Delta Community Center; Dan Kavanaugh, vice president and general manager of Turner Construction; John Killin, executive director of Associated Builders and Contractors’ Pacific Northwest chapter; David McCutchen, CEO of Vorsana; Andy Noel, director of utility business development of REC Solar; Dave Otte, architect with Holst Architecture; Sergio Palleroni, architect and professor at Portland State University’s Institute for Sustainable Solutions; Jan Robertson, CEO of NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson; Del Smith, founder and executive CEO of Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum; and Aaron Whelton, owner of Whelton Architecture and assistant professor of architecture at Portland State University.

The Newsmakers will be honored Feb. 23 during a luncheon event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Downtown Waterfront Marriott, 1401 S.W. Naito Parkway in Portland.
